Getting started

  1. Start a ladder. Go to Start a ladder and paste your Lichess team link (lichess.org/team/...) or chess.com club link (chess.com/club/...). I list the members with their current ratings. Pick who goes on the ladder and press Create. No team online? Choose "Start empty" and give the ladder a name.
  2. Save the admin link. After creating, you get a private admin link ending in #k= and a long code. It's the only key to the ladder, and this browser remembers it. Bookmark it or keep it in your notes.
  3. Send the invite link. On the admin page, copy the invite link and send it to your players (or their parents). Each player adds their usernames and proves the accounts with a short code in their profile. See Invite players.
  4. Wait for the first readings. Lichess members imported from a team have ratings straight away. Everyone else is read within an hour, and I also read their last month of games, so charts don't start empty.
  5. Use it. Open the ladder on club night, print the standings, and send each family the monthly report.

A free ladder holds 15 players. The Club pass removes the limit.
